I don’t think mom or daughter have the capacity to surprise at this point, do you? Shauna has been a villain and manipulator since the pilot. The reason grown women insist otherwise is because they empathize immediately with “fat smart coulda woulda shoulda been at Brown girl” and as a reflex insist Shauna has virtues that she’s never been shown to have.

Shauna is the “curvy” manic pixie dream girl as envisioned by women. She writes in a diary! She was Ivy adjacent kind of! Her kid is a dick and her husband’s dumb! Diets are hard! Life is most unfair to her! [/quote]
