I'm still not sure why this is in the religion forum and not the politics forum?
Sadly, because this is about how religion impacts voting and politics. And right now, there's a lot of political targeting. I am someone who literally cannot bring up Israel, Palestinians, Gaza to any of my religious contemporaries. Not one. This is religion. This is culture.
What synagogue do you go to where you can’t bring this up at all? There’s plenty of room for criticism of Israel’s conduct both in this war and over the whole last century at most Jewish spaces I’m familiar with.
Your synogouge must be unique because this does not seem typical
Mine is Conservative (Adas Israel) but, like I said, plenty of space for a very wide range of opinions. I strongly suspect that's the case at most Reform congregations in D.C., too. Less so Orthodox ones. Not familiar with attitudes on Israel at suburban congregations these days, so I probably should have qualified my earlier comment.
