No one actually chooses Bullis over Sidwell. Especially if you live in Bethesda. Especially for lower school. Bullis is a backup private school if one didn’t get into sidwell, and you’re fixated on going to a private school.
I mean, these are the facts. Sidwell. No question.
Nope, we chose Bullis over Sidwell. Never looked back. My DC loves high school, is thriving, and is getting a wonderful education. Prestige isn't everything. Having a kid who is happy is.
Glad your kid is happy at Bullis. Just FYI, there are also really happy kids at Sidwell. Sidwell isn’t just about prestige. The experience is an incredible one for any child fortunate enough to be able to attend. I taught there and I have friends who teach at other schools (including Bullis). These two schools, in particular, are very, very different. Im sure there are kids who aren’t a good fit for any particular school but to make an assumption that kids at Sidwell aren’t happy is short-sighted. Just like the assumption that Bullis is for jocks and is the “public school you pay for.”
Why did you make the assumption that I thought kids at Sidwell aren't happy? I never said that. I said that for my DC, we chose Bullis over Sidwell. It was a tough decision, but we prioritized overall well-being, and it turned out to be the right decision because our DC is very happy. I don't think he would have been at Sidwell for reasons that are specific to him. Sidwell is certainly more prestigious, whatever that really means, but that wasn't our decision-maker. I was simply responding to the people who said that no one chooses Bullis over Sidwell. That's just not correct.
Don’t worry pp - the pp who replied to you is probably one of the scorned parents from the ‘Sidwell happiness’ thread that feel they must protect/project the notion of Sidwell happiness Each kid is different and I’m glad your child is happy at Bullis. That’s a gift.
