We didn't grow strawberries. They aren't worth the effort.

In my current NoVA backyard, I have four blueberry bushes. They do provide more than we need. So, some berry bushes can be worth the effort. You do need to keep the birds out. [/quote]

Producing the next year as I recall. My comment is that you can grow some berries in small scale that are worthwhile. Blackberries or any of the cane berries need more space and don't lend themselves to backyard gardening. My yard isn't really big enough for a garden to support two people. Maybe if I used the front yard too but that's illegal in FFX county.[/quote]
