Yes. This is so crazy to me. My teenaged son writes and the scholastic awards just came out for our region (not dc but another major city) and he is the only while male winner of any kind (dozens and dozens of awards). It’s all white females and Asian males and females. [/quote]

I didn’t perceive the PP as complaining, just noting the trend. The contests I’ve been involved with used blind judging so it’s not like I knew I was reading a white/Asian/whatever kid’s work.

If there was a serious concern that boys are being discouraged from participating that’s one thing, but I haven’t been hearing that. But if you are going all in on the travel sports scholarship path, obviously there’s only so much time in the day and not much left for more time consuming pursuits like creative writing. [/quote]
