Do any dcurbanmoms agree that Democrats should consider apologizing for a few things (like calling swing voters stupid racists) and trying to do a reset with swing voters? Or no? So far we’re running 100% against that idea. Does anyone think it could help? Or do we stick to our guns?
I don't see a purpose. Republicans have never apologized a day in their existence. Parties don't apologize. Show me a list of ideas that a swing voter between trump and democrats would have which aren't heavily leaned towards MAGA.
The problem is that the swing voters just broke Republican. Those are the ones we have to win back. Why do we whine that both sides should have to apologize? Why should we care if Republicans reach out to our voters? Obviously they already did, sneakily, and it worked. Who cares what seems fair? This isn’t a slap fight. This is politics. Our latest beliefs don’t make us winners. Getting votes makes us winners.
MAGA appeals to a conspiratorial type of person. I don't really see the purpose of extending coalition to conspiracy theorists.
I’m not talking about extending coalition to MAGA. I’m talking about apologizing to the normal swing voters who disappointed to such an extent that they preferred the discredited MAGA rapist-in-chief to continued Democratic Party leadership. Apparently they aren’t that happy with us lately. We should find out why and to fix it? We can still KNOW that we are always right about everything. But we should at least ask around a little bit and find out what swing voters falsely BELIEVE we did wrong.
Look, I'm in the coalition and democrats will never give me an apology for consistently shafting progressives at every point to appeal to moderate dems and swing voters. Welcome to a 2 party system: you get what you get and you don't throw fits. Progressives have done a ton of the hard work for democrats and are given almost no time for policy or agenda-building; meanwhile, we are expected to vote 100% for democrats and are blamed for everything. You live on. No one is apologizing to anyone, because no matter what you say, people will call you pretentious, manipulators, and dishonest.
