Actually, there is.  There is good and there is evil.  The good side stays within its borders and doesn't launch terror raids into neighboring territory.  The evil side engages in terror repeatedly over 75 or so years after losing a war they started.  The evil side loses every time, but that doesn't make them less evil, and doesn't make the side which defeats them in self-defense any the less morally good.    [/quote]

It is an entirely legitimate war of self-defense, which could have ended in an instant if the hostages were released.  Hostage-taking is not the conduct of people with any claim to morality or to immunity for the consequences of their activites.  [/quote]

The war is a just war, and the Palestinian deaths are the foreseeable and preventable consequence of Hamas aggression and unwillingness to surrender.  In WWII did the allies stop and call it a day after some magic number of civilians had been killed?  No, they stopped when the enemies surrendered and were rendered completely incapable of further aggression.   The Axis powers have ever since been peaceful.  The lesson here for Hamas and the Palestinians is clear - release the hostages and surrender.  Or keep mewling about nakbas, keep launching periodic terror attacks, and keep sustaining losses which could have been avoided with a pragmatic acceptance of the reality on the ground.  [/quote]

Comparing Hamas with the Axis / Nazis is appropriate and on-point because both Hamas (a designated terrorist organization) and the Nazis are/were determined to annihilate the Jewish people and erase their existence.

See, I feel the opposite. The Nazis had what they believed to be very good reasons for exterminating the Jews, including the belief that Jews were the reason Germany lost WWI and were running the country into the ground. We reconize that hatred for what it is today, but Germans back then feared for their lives as much as today’s MAGA fear brown immigrants.

When I hear Israelis refer to Gazans as “roaches” and “animals”, it is clear the lesson they took from the Holocaust was not one of love and acceptance and the dangers of unchecked hate and the perils of dehumanizing people. It was to study and adopt the methods of the Germans. Including stealing land from others for your libesraum.
