You really need to be at the valedictorian level for that school. And for Vanderbilt, you need to be president of something to be considered. It takes a lot more than a good test score for an unhooked applicant to have a shot at Northwestern, Rice, Vanderbilt, Chicago, Brown, Dartmouth, or Cornell. If a high test score is the only remarkable thing about an application, I'd look at OOS publics, which tend to put a lot of weight on stats. Or perhaps BU, USC, maybe NYU outside of Stern, all preferably ED.
