Nothing could be more shortsighted in this day & age than just learning a skill.  Jobs change/disappear constantly.  The stories reported here, btw, are far and away NOT the norm.  People need college degrees more and more just to get their foot in the door, get started out, etc.  And they need degrees that teach them a broad range of skills and abilities - not just training for one particular job.[/quote]

Seeing as how there are tons of college graduates with tons of loans and no job to pay them back...I would say the opposite is true. I can't wait until this college bubble bursts, then maybe people will be able to think clearly. Learn how to do something and do it well. No one gives a damn about your liberal arts degree.[/quote]

Education needs to progress to a much much more focused skilled trade type training. These graduates I've interviewed know a whole bunch of nothing. These kids can hardly wipe their asses without direction.  [b]Even though we hire for business roles, i wont interview a liberal arts candidate. Only someone who has a math science background will enter my office for an interview. [/b][/quote]
