I think you might be talking about survivor benefits.

My mother receives survivor benefits. My dad worked really hard his entire life. Due to the long hours and substantial travel, it was never feasible for my mom to work. She raised us and managed every aspect of our home. I know this is not the norm anymore, but it was at the time and worked well for them.

Do you think my mom should not get his SS? Then where should it go? Should she be on the streets and told to “grow up” and learn to take care of herself? [/quote]
