I have friends who voted for Trump. They're mostly silent and not openly gleeful about what is happening. If they were, I would cut them no question. One close friend has admitted that she did not foresee what is happening and it's starting to hurt her own family. I didn't say "I told you so."
Dude, we are just polite. It is not OK to be gleeful when you are winning, especially in front of people you know aren’t happy. I am pleased with the changes but I would never say so or indicate that in front of my lib friends, because that is rude and mean. I just don’t talk about it or say something noncommittal if it is brought up. I am sure some of them think silence means I am unhappy with Trump, and that’s fine for them to think but not true.
Are you honestly pleased that they are breaking laws instead of approaching their policy changes lawfully?
I am pleased that they are getting some movement on these issues. The legal issues will work themselves out. Nothing I am seeing is concerning to me yet. I am unconcerned about the government having my SSN, which they all do anyway (and China does too from data leaks.) I think a pause and reevaluation of spending is eminently sensible and some sunshine on what has been going on at USAID (and all other federal agencies) is long overdue. If it wasn’t done this way agencies would slow roll so slow nothing would get accomplished. I work with agencies all the time and they don’t care much about the “laws” they enforce much of the time. Their timelines are often so ridiculous as to be laughable, I don’t want them scheduling anything. I am in the middle of a required regulatory reviews that is supposed to be done every 10 years. After 15 they finally opened it and I think it will take them 10 years to get it done, at which point they are supposed to be starting again but won’t for another decade. It’s not because they don’t have the staff either…the staff assigned to it has little to no understanding of how it works. Every time we meet I get to re-explain it to them as they are unaware of their own rules. Long past time to fix all this.
