Wow just found this thread. Parent of a GE senior. My current senior has a 1520 SAT will have 14 APs plus MV and AP Physics C. My son has found the program plenty challenging. AP Seminar/Research are a drag for STEM oriented kids who don’t like writing but the experience comes in handy when applying for internships. My kid loves the field trips. I find the program to be very healthy one.
+1
+1 GE is what you make of it. Kind of like life. As a GE kid you can place into functions math, take loads of AP and beyond-AP classes, pursue research internships, play sports and engage in extracurriculars, etc. My kid made the choice of GE over the other two PHS magnets because they didn't want to study CS. GE was great in giving them more of an outdoors, touch the grass perspective. The biggest problem IMO with MCPS magnets is the lack of a large life sciences magnet. Many of the GE and SMACS kids would be better served in such a program.
