289 is already "off the chart" where the exact value of the scores don't matter anymore.

The essay is nice although it is generic and doesn't and really say anything about the applicant's personality.  It reads a bit like he was trying impress someone he's intimidated by, not introducing himself to a new friend/colleague. It's a better magazine column than a *personal* statement, IMO.

The achievements/awards/ECs part of the app is more relevant, but please don't post it, because it doesn't matter here. What's done is done;! go take a walk in the warming weather and enjoy the approach of spring. [/quote]

Thanks for your advice! I'm extremely sorry if I come across as snarky or rude, or even a "troll", but I genuinely have no idea about what Maryland's systems are like. We recently immigrated from a certain southeast Asian country to figure out this country's new opportunities. Apologies to everyone in the forum who think I'm trying to poke fun at American parents.
