SUNY schools are good, but located in more rural areas/smaller areas. Of course kids don't apply to an OOS school that is remote/hard to get to, outside of the flagships (For SUNY the closest thing to a Flagship would be Binghamton). [/quote] Columbia, SC and Tallahassee and Clemson and Knoxville and Athens, GA etc. are not exactly huge metropoles yet are attracting an increasingly diverse and large applicant pool, particularly among the OOS population. Stony Brook? Binghamton? LOL. Yeah, not so much. [/quote]
