I imagine the egomaniac thought she would win the Oscar for her subpar work. However, she lost at the Golden Globes last night in a very weak field. She was beaten by a practically unknown Brazilian actress in a foreign language film. Her Oscar campaign is done. The industry does not like her or respect her as an actress, and her performance and the film were incredibly subpar.
It's a crowded field. No one knows what will happen with the noms, except that Mikey Madison is a sure thing and Demi Moore increasingly seems so. I think Kidman makes it in, but it's not certain. Erivo, Jolie, Gascon, Torres, Jean-Baptiste...any of them could make it in, any of them could miss.
Anora completely blanked at the globes. Even Mikey is not a sure thing.
She's a sure thing for a nom, not even a question.
Alana Haim and Licorice pizza. She's not a lock at all. And Anora can easily follow the same path LP did
I don't think that's a strong comparison. Madison got every precursor nomination, with numerous wins. Haim was far more sporadic. I don't think Madison is a sure thing for the win, but it is absolutely certain she gets the nomination.
Regional critics really aren't the industry. I never count them. Haim was nominated for CCA, BAFTA, and the Globes but it went downhill from there. She had been in the top 2 similar to Madison. I think she will still be nominated but she's not a lock after last night
GG have always been viewed as eccentric, and less a predictor, than the other awards. Don't think results last night mean much except that more Oscar voters are likely to put I'm Still Here on their watch list. And it's evidence of Moore's ongoing surge, which is well timed.
