When I was having a lot of difficulty with my teen DD this verse kept running through my head, especially "Your sons and your daughters are beyond your command."[/quote]

Yes me too - it really is timeless.

I also take comfort in Kahlil Gibran’s  (1883 –
1931) poem “On Children”

And a woman who held a babe against her bosom said, Speak to us of Children.

     They are the sons and daughters of Life’s longing for itself.

     And though they are with you yet they belong not to you.
