Mine was in the same position last year—deferred at an Ivy, but his two top choices were that school and UChicago. Since they were weighted equally in his mind, he went with ED2 at Chicago, was happy to get in, and hasn’t looked back. FWIW his deferred friends who did get into the Ivy in RD were both legacies.
