Did anyone ever think that offering the class at MC is MCPS trying to achieve equity? They are able to offer all students an opportunity to take the class they need/want while also keeping in mind their available resources and the need of students. Just because something does look the same every place does not make it inequitable.
It’s not equity when it’s a transportation and timing issue. Not all kids can easily access these classes. If mcps wanted equity they’d provide these classes at the schools or virtually during the normal school day.
MC offers virtual classes.
They are either duing the school day which is an issue if you are taking a full day minus one class at your school OR after school/evenings which conflicts with after-school activities. Our kids have 1-2 activities after school daily so there is no time. So, that's no equity. And, according to DCUM virtual classes are bad so why should some of our kids be forced to take them vs. provided at their school, which is the same classes provided at other schools.
