Well to be fair, someone has to pay the bills.  Nursing homes cannot just run on thin air.  So patients that don't pay their bills will be discharged to family members.  The issue is that we need all of our medical care to stop being "for profit"---it's a service that everyone in society will benefit from.  It should be managed much better
