Oh, give me a break. My parents spanked me, often with a belt. But this was normal in our "southern" culture. Not good, but it didn't ruin my life. Stop being a fragile flower, cut your parents out of your life if you wish, and move on. [/quote]

Just because your parents beat you with a belt doesn't mean it was right or legal. Just because you lived through something horrible doesn't mean we need to normalize it.

This kid ended up suicidal and in the hospital. But please minimize the abuse and tell him he should just get over it.

Do you tell other victims of abuse they should just get over it or is it only when your parents abuse you that it's ok.[/quote]
