You are missing the point of this huge body of work entirely. Everything has context. A single quote is generally meaningless and/or can be given lots of meanings by changing context.[/quote]

Not to mention if PP thinks serious Christians haven't already noticed the apparent contradictions and done the work to create reams and reams of systematic theology dealing with it over the millenia people have been studying the Bible...I don't know what to say.

No - that's not it at all. SOME religious people  rely strictly on the Bible, others, as you mention, are much more sophisticated.  However, they all believe (or say they believe) in God - a supernatural being, who is never seen, who people used to think lived up in the sky (when they didn't understand atmosphere) and still think he's in heaven, and if you're Christian, believe that his son, Jesus, is up there too and if you're Catholic, you are taught to believe that his mother, Mary - a virgin, no less, is up there too.  Yes -- there are many intelligent people who say they believe this.  [/quote]
