Between the speed cameras, new stop lights, new stop signs, new speed bunps, yellow light shortening, lane shrinkage, and flexposts getting around town is becoming a nightmare. It doesn't even seem safer. What the heck has DDOT been smoking?
No. A “nightmare” is being seriously injured or killed in a crash or having a relative suffer such a fate. The roads don’t seem safer because the number of self-centered jerks on the road is at all time highs due to the absence of proper enforcement.
I hope you realize that all these measures are being done as an intentional replacement for enforcement. I would also argue that they make things worse and create an environment that increases the amount of "self-centered jerks" on the road. But we can disagree about that.
You can argue whatever you want, but the odds of it making much sense are slim. Traffic calming requires both infrastructure and enforcement. DC is moving forward of the infrastructure, but the enforcement is sorely lacking.
That's nice but you should know that it is an either/or. Congestion and Cameras in lieau of enforcement.
