Historians, people who have lived through similar events, those who come from authoritarian places….so many people sounding the alarms. But the MAGAs really do think they are smarter than others. That the rest of us are too dumb to see the “truth.” Another recent article on the subject: https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2024/10/trump-authoritarian-rhetoric-hitler-mussolini/680296/
Stop. There's very little more authoritarian than mandating vaccines and censoring free speech through social media. I will never forget (or forgive) it.
How did the government censor free speech? Can you give examples?
Sure. Colluded with big tech to get conservative social media accounts shut down. Next? https://judiciary.house.gov/sites/evo-subsites/republicans-judiciary.house.gov/files/evo-media-document/cisa-staff-report6-26-23.pdf
Oh please. Jim Comer is nothing but a partisan idiot. The Supreme Court three out the lawsuit over these claims because they were so weak. It’s a good thing when the government is talking to social media about stopping the spread of lies— like the lies about hurricane relief being spread right now. Of course it is Trump who is spreading them so Comer gets butthurt if anyone point that that out. And now Musk is actively spreading lies in coordination with Trump.
👏Lies👏and 👏misinformation👏are👏protected👏speech👏. That is why when democrats say Trump told people to inject bleach (which is a lie) or that he colluded with Russian (another lie) they don't get punished by the government.
There are no protections for free speech by private individuals on private platforms. That is a fact. If Facebook wanted to shutdown misinformation it has every right to. On the other if Musk wants to spread misinformation he can do that. The government saying “we wish you wouldn’t spread misinformation because you’ll get people killed” isn’t a bad thing as long as they don’t go further and threaten the platform. Missouri v Biden was about that exactly and the Supreme Court said that all the Biden Administration did was talk to platforms about misinformation, they never threatened them so the case was dismissed. But if you think there was no collusion by Trump with Russia then you probably aren’t interested in facts. I mean he literally publicly asked Russia for help, his campaign told Russia where to help and then they refused to talk to the special counsel about how else they helped.
