Why even bring up your uncle then? What was the purpose?
He is cackling with delight that shelves will be empty and after the pandemic inflation, the orange sun king will return. Basically he wants the union to do Trump’s bidding and make Biden Harris look bad.
Have you looked at the Longshoremans’ demands? They don’t mention a single candidate. They are about wages and automation only.
Demands for increased wages are reasonable but people need to stop demanding limits on automation. Automation will inevitably replace expensive workers.
Automation is coming for your job too. Humans having jobs is more important than maximum profit.
How much extra are you willing to pay for bananas? The longshoreman are demanding a 70%+ raise and were offered a 50% raise. If those goes on more than a week public opinion is going to swing against them.
Their max pay is now $39 an hour now, a 70% raise is being instituted over 6 years at $5 an hour a year. $39/hour for a max salary is chicken scratch for what those people have to endure. That’s around $75,000-$80,000 a year for back breaking work where you always the risk of having your skull, legs, or back caved in by a shipping container. Shame on you for thinking they’re being greedy in their demands. This thread really brings to light how phony these supposed “Democrats” are on this board. These “Democrats” on here are mostly neoconservative Republicans who have libertarian social and cultural views. Not Democrats in my book at all. I stand with the workers of America, not greedy corporations. You should too.
If it's such a terrible, dangerous job, it should be replaced by automation.
