An automatic transmissions actively pumps fluid through the bearings. With a proper Jeep, you can just put the transfer case in neutral, which completely disconnects the rear driveshaft from the transmission output shaft. Most automatics on will burn up from oil starvation when towed in neutral. [/quote]
