Another way to process the situation: how does this action make Jews safer? In addition to inspiring the next generation of Hamas in Gaza israel has now confirmed the next generation of Hezbollah in Lebanon. And c certainly stoked antisemitic fear and anger in other regions as well. Great job!
Seems kinda simplistic. It's clear that Israel will be safer in the short and possibly medium term as a result of this action. Conventional wisdom (analysts) seems to be that Hezbollah's ability to project force has likely been severely impaired. Key personnel injured, communications networks disrupted and potentially not secure, internal security compromised. This makes Israel safer for some time. Not to mention the potential deterrent effect of this action on both Hezbollah and other hostile groups. In the long term, who knows? Will it really result in a higher rate of recruiting? Or will it have a deterrent effect on potential recruits? Or will it be a wash? All possible. But most nations would choose a clear and immediate reduction in short/medium-term risk, even if it creates the theoretical possibility of a marginally increased long-term risk.
