Speak for yourself. Looting, assault, attempted murder, and arson aren't exactly doing wonders for civilization. To you it's a bunch of gucci bags. To others it's a breakdown in the rules and norms and public order that human beings need for society to function safely for everyone. I hope "The Government" prosecutes these people hard.
+1 It hurts the businesses in those areas (including employees who work there and people who shop there). It negatively affects residents and tourists who want to enjoy the area. It creates a downward spiral of crime. Insurance premiums go up for all sorts of businesses. Police officers (who aren’t all evil despite some narratives) are putting their own safety in danger. But it feels good to try to act morally superior by making this about consumerism so people will tout this garbage while patting themselves heartily on the back.
ok, MAGA.
Dems don't want safety and security in their communities?
I want my community secured from Dems. They’re the ones committing the crime where I live.
Statistically you are more likely to be the victim of a violent crime in a town of fewer than 100k than in a city. You know, the MAGA-filled sh*tholes of America.
What universe do you live in? https://usafacts.org/articles/which-cities-have-the-highest-murder-rates/ "There were 24,849 homicides in the US in 2022 — an average of about 7.5 deaths per 100,000 people[1]. Homicide rates are highest in counties home to large cities, where there are an average of 10.5 per 100,000. Rates are lower in medium-sized urban counties (7.4), small metropolitan counties (6.4), and suburban counties[2] (5.1). Rural counties also have lower-than-average homicide rates." What small cities that do have outsized crime, tend to not exactly have a MAGA demographic if you know what I mean.
https://www.safehome.org/resources/crime-statistics-by-state/ And yes, I know that you mean “black people,” you can just admit your racism out loud.
Obviously you don't read your own links or know anything about statistics. Your link doesn't say anything about small cities in general, but just calls out a few particular outliers. It even notes that small places are susceptible to one-off events. For instance, Uvalde being the second most dangerous city in 2022. The most dangerous small city was also very small and had a 4X increase over 21 and other past years for some reason, possibly because a murder-suicide was booked in the wrong year. Greenwood has a population distribution that pretty much mirrors DC, and Uvalde is overwhelmingly Hispanic. Neither is MAGA country by a long shot. So no, your attempt to deflect violent crime onto small town Whites in order to protect the usual suspects from scrutiny has failed.
You can access the data from their links and do the analysis for yourself. They aren’t “a couple of outliers,” the per capita numbers for small towns (and even small cities) are substantially higher. It isn’t like these numbers drastically fall off after the first three. And while some are susceptible to one off events, the violent crimes are not just murders and the stats are high across the board, even for more common crimes. But I’m sure you’re too dumb to do the analysis, just like you conflate “rural counties” with “towns less than 100k” and don’t realize there are tons of sparsely populated counties where, yes, little crime happens because there are few people there. That’s not what we are talking about here. But what we are talking about is your desperation in blaming minorities for crime. And that speaks a lot about you.
Not the PP you are responding to, but minorities literally do commit more crimes per capita than white Americans. Asians commit less crimes per capita than white Americans. This is just what the data shows - it's not even debatable. Now, whether it's fair to "blame" minorities for crime as you say, personally I don't think blaming anyone gets us anywhere as a human race. We need to look into socioeconomic factors, among others and find ways to compassionately lower crime across the board. But denying truth doesn't help anyone, and calling someone racist for speaking the truth especially doesn't help anyone. Whether someone is racist for speaking a fact such as "black Americans commit more murder per capita than white Americans" comes down to their intent for bringing this up or saying this -- after all, the fact is the fact and a fact cannot be racist. If their intent is to disparage, then yes they are a racist. If their intent is to discuss the issue out of a desire to see a stronger, better America, then there is nothing racist about stating this fact. -black person who isn't going to be called "racist" by a fragile white person
