Has anyone have appealed at Rachel Carson recently this year or last year ? Was wondering if it's just appeal or test ? .
That’s the school asking for the test. I’m the OP.
I am not surprised. Carson has a good number of kids taking Algebra 1 H in 7th grade, they don’t need bodies to fill a class the way some other MS do. It makes sense that they would have a more strict process to make sure a student is ready for Algebra in 7th. I am guessing, and this is pure speculation, that they don’t advertise that there is a test because they don’t want parents prepping their kids for it over the course of the summer. They want kids to test in because they know the material and are ready for it. Like I said, pure speculation on my part. They probably don’t want to encourage students to take the class who did not meet the original threshold.
I’ve heard they usually don’t do this so it’s surprising… I was able to have it moved since we are on vacation next week… but that also means waiting almost until school starts to know!
