Who is this
An actress in and from a foreign country.
Once known as the most beautiful face in the world!!
Not worldwide--she is popular in some specific places. The "world" can't think she is beautiful if they don't know she is.
She won the "Miss World" contest in 1994. Time magazine gave her a 100 most influential people award. Her modeling didn't show up much in mainstream US publications but I once saw a luxury watch print ad of hers in the New Yorker. She's definitely one of the most famous Indian celebrities. She is married into a celebrity family as famous in India as the Jolie Pitt family. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aishwarya_Rai_Bachchan#:~:text=Rai%20won%20the%20Miss%20World,influential%20people%20in%20the%20world.
Ok this is the U.S. not India. I don't know what is going on in India like I don't know what is going on in Cambodia or Argentina. Is there some reason why India is special?
PP. This is in the celebrities section of DCUM. Just because you've never heard of someone who is not American doesn't lessen their fame. My point is basically that this person is globally famous. This thread has come up because she's going to a billionnaire's kid's wedding. Justin Bieber, Rihanna, the Trumps and American and British politicians have been involved in this wedding and the engagement party earlier in the year. India is a pretty large country, lol. And we have lots of immigrants from there. Bollywood and Hollywood do intersect. Do you recognize Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas? Are you aware of Sophia Loren, Catherine Deneuve, or Brigitte Bardot? Those are relevant parallels although they did more crossover work. Many young people in the US would have no idea who they are.
Nigeria is a large country as well. I think you think India needs to have a sort of more special importance to us than other countries. It doesn’t. So naming actors/actresses from India without explaining who they are is a flex-you must certainly know who these people are if you don't go learn about them they are important! Yeah no. Lots immigrants means there is something they want to leave behind, not impressive.
Listen to yourself. People talking about something you don't know about is a flex? Maybe you are too lazy to Google. This actress has an English language Wikipedia page.
I don’t even get the PP’s point. If she was so unknown and unworthy of a thread, it would have just died. Why do you need to police the topic of threads?
