Hoping my B meet kid can get a chance to swim in the A meet.
I haven't read all the posts, but wouldn't it be a better strategy to encourage your swimmer to work hard and drop time? Kiddos earn their spot for A meets--if you kiddo wants it enough, the will work for it.
I have a DC with a terrible swim birthday who is the youngest in an age group where kids grow. So DC is already physically outclassed and can't close the time gap through hard work alone. Subbing in is the only way they will access A meets this year.
Same with both of my kids. When they’re at the bottom of their age group there are July birthday kids who are almost two years older that also swim at intense year round clubs. Hard work is not always enough.
Similar with a 31 May birthday but while it’s a hard yr when DC is at the bottom of the age group, they still make the A meets. It’s possible.
You have to understand that that really depends on the team, right? A large team with 8 strong 12 year old girls does not have the room for a prepubescent 11 year old to break through.
