22000 applications for 800 slots at Smeal. DS is so excited to be a freshman this fall.
Does PSU publish that data somewhere? Can't find anything from a Google search.
PP I got the stats from calling the business school's admissions office...not from Google.
Omg people call and ask this stuff?!? Why?
Do you care more about the University ranking or more about the ranking of the major your kid is applying to?
What does the number of slots have to do with the ranking? And I didn’t care much about either for my kid. As long as she thought she’d be happy her school.
Number of slots is not the number accepted. They factor in the yield rate, so the acceptance is likely 3x or more the number of slots. Penn State’s yield rate is 19% (so they would accept 5x the number of slots) but I will assume maybe it is higher for Smeal.
But Penn State's figures are artificially high on number of applications received because it has rolling admissions. Many high stats lids, like my own, applied in August so they would enter senior year with one college acceptance under their belt but never intended to attend and withdrew once better ED, EA offers came in
