That is total b.s.  In the Jewish community going into teaching is looked down on as being inferior.  Jewish people push their children towards becoming attorneys and doctors.  Some slip through and do become teachers.  I even met a Jewish county police officer once.[/quote]

Sigh. Jew here. The word "rabbi" literally translates as "teacher." One of the most respected professions a Jewish person can have. Education is of utmost importance in our culture, and it's a very important position to be able to aid others in their education, especially considering a teacher has to be learned him/herself.
