If you think of streets in a city as analogous to the blood vessels in your body, getting rid of parking spaces and replacing them with bike lanes is like giving a city arteriosclerosis. It makes it a lot harder for the vast majority of people to get around the city. People aren't going to switch to bikes just because there's bike lanes. They'll just stop going to the parts of the city where it's a pain in the ass to drive or park. I know I haven't been to Georgetown in years because getting around Georgetown fking sucks. How does it help anyone to have a balkanized city?
It's called Metro Bus Walking Cycling Rideshare Scooter Tons of ways to get around the District without having convenient and subsidized parking available for drivers. Time to prioritize people, not single occupancy vehicle owners and operators.
Yes, but driving is by far the most popular way of getting around, and it's the only method of transportation in Washington D.C. that transportation surveys show is becoming *more* popular. Fewer people are biking. Fewer are riding the subway. Fewer are taking the bus. Sorry but people are voting with their feet.
