Are we facing the most consequential presidential election of our time? Why every election is labeled as such? Isn't every election consequential? Every second of every life is consequential? Why dramatize whatever election we happen to be facing as THE ONE? Is it because for first time we have two equally bad choices?
The choices aren't "equally" bad but it is the first time in our history we don't have at least one major party candidate that most can agree is fit to lead the country for the duration of the term they are seeking. For this reason, this election does present us with the two weakest major party candidates in American history. Acknowledging this fact and demanding better from our two failing major political parties is the first crucial step in recovery by 2028.
We can demand better, but polling and other metrics suggest that Biden is the only democrat who can beat Trump. So that is our choice, an old Biden or an authoritarian. In 2028, the country will have two open primaries where ideas and young blood will have a chance, but for right now, even traditional conservatives are voting for Biden because they know what is at stake.
Come on, you don't know what's going to happen in 2028. At all. The fact that we will have young blood is totally wrong. We might but I don't know why the young blood wouldn't want to go all in as a Dem in this election because running v Trump is not a hard race! The other unknown is whether 2028 will see better times for any of us if Biden gets elected. Not suggesting it would be better with Trump but I don't know how much better Biden will make out, truly I don't. It could be that we're in such shit that GOP running anyone except for Trump gets elected. We're in much deeper waters if that happens from a SCOTUS perspective and if they have a strong candidate that could actually mean 8 more years (gasp!). I would actually go with Trump now and get it over with actually. I do not believe he can screw us up anymore than we are already with 2 wars + inflation + Kamala as Biden's back up. It's the Devil you know that is a safer bet than the devil you don't. Biden's definitely not all there anymore or if he is, he won't be for another 4 years.
If Trump gets elected., there won't be valid presidential elections in 2028. I don't think you are getting it. He tried a coup once, and it failed. His appointees in the federal judiciary and supreme court are delaying things so he has a chance to do it again.
Such fearmongering brought on by media companies exploiting the stupid. Stop watching CNN and MSNBC.
More corporate media that really doesn’t care if Trump is back. You can pretend that people who are rightly concerned about Trump and the GOP are just propagandized sheeple, but we saw you try to overthrow the government. We saw you happily gut women’s rights. We see your plans via Project 2025 and from Trump’s own mouth his desire to deport 11 million immigrants (legally or not, I don’t think he’d care, or you, either. That’s white nationalism for you). And that’s after he let covid destroy our economy and millions of lives. Trump sucks.
