It's actually kind of the opposite - old money rich buy stuffy, extremely expensive stuff by have been brands and look like the real housewives of X. Nouveau riche either don't care about that at all or mix younger, up and coming labels (that are largely unknown to you rubes) with well-cut mainstream pieces.
