It’s a wonderful state to live in and then Massachusetts is there to keep us humble.
Springfield?
…Is a perfectly nice small city that happens to be much, much safer than Baltimore. Have you actually been there?
Your description of Springfield Mass. as a “perfectly nice small city” suggests you haven’t been there either.
It’s my hometown. What’s your connection with it that you think it’s so terrible?
NP. Springfield is also my hometown. Calling it a Mayberry-esque "perfectly nice small city" is ludicrous. Springfield lost its industrial base decades ago and has been battling high poverty, high crime, crumbling infrastructure, urban blight, and terrible schools ever since. The city has come close to bankruptcy at least once and a casino declared to be downtown's savior has done little to turn things around. Boston gives two sh*ts about anything west of I-495 and largely ignores Springfield's needs along with the needs of some of its hollowed-out industrial neighbors like Chicopee and Holyoke. Also, comparing Springfield with Baltimore is stupid. They're not in the same league. With that said, some parts of Springfield's North End rivals parts of West Baltimore and Pimlico.
