Lots of over 55s in Md and Va, or even the beach ( Delaware). No need to go to Florida unless that is your culture, your politics, or preference for whatever reason. People who love Florida love it for a reason,  and usually it's taxes and politics. [/quote]

It's weather, taxes and lifestyle. Nothing to do with politics. Look at statistics and see how many Californians are moving there. I know of wealthy, very liberal Californians who have bought Central Florida horse farms/ranches and love it. There are also developments/areas which are gay-friendly, despite the current political climate.
