Agree that it's funny how strong opinions are. I like my double sink (wash on one side, leave stuff to dry in the other w/o cluttering the counter) and would prefer my first floor laundry be in the basement as it was in my old house, but first floor is still better than second floor. When my kids were small, would have hated the noise up there!

The only real dealbreaker for me would be a split foyer.[/quote]
