With that many cards you are really getting pretty marginal benefits. And many of them you don't need to use the card to spend anything on to get the benefits. I have an IHG and Marriott card.that I keep solely for the free annual night with each card. No spend required. One has a $49 annual fee, the other $99. So it's easy to get good value out of them. But I never use them for spending.[/quote]

I'm a NP, but if PP is playing the points game, this is not uncommon whatsoever. Although usually in the points game, that many cards are [b]not really used regularly[/b], but more so they are churned for sign up bonuses. [/quote]

Exactly- if you are playing the points game, you aren't using that many cards regularly.  OP asked about cards "actively used" and that response said "15-20 that I use regularly".  I play the points game and have a number of "shoebox" cards that I keep for the benefits, like those hotel cards.  But I use them at most once per year- either to put some activity on the card to keep it open, or because of some bonus or such, like staying at a hotel of that brand.  I think the average points game player probably uses 3 or 4 cards actively- one for whatever sign up bonus you are working on, and a few others for the in between times or specific categories.[/quote]
