He should apologize for bringing a cooler full of his own beer and making a big show of hauling it into their party.

He didn't just bring a six-pack and ask the bartender to stick it behind the bar for him (like another PP said would have been more acceptable). He brought a freaking cooler full of beer and made sure the hostess knew it was there. He's childish and attention-seeking. OP really should think hard about whether this is part of a bigger pattern of this kind of silly, look-at-me tendency. [/quote]

+1 If it was truly about having beer of his choice on hand, there were better ways to do it, although I also question an adult who can't make due with the beverages being served. He wanted to make a spectacle. It was rude. [/quote]
