How was the trip, OP?
OP here. Oh my goodness. I came back to this forum because we are going back next month I wanted to know where to shop for groceries. I ended up very very SICK and I was in the hospital in the US for 1 week with typhoid fever. Our second child was conceived in Bangladesh. He is now 4. Our 2 year old didn't get sick. Things have changed soooooooo much. I was much more relaxed back then but keep in mind it was my first time to a developing country. I am much more hypervigilant and my husband is suggesting we only take 2 luggage's for 4 people. He drives me nuts sometimes. If I need to bring food for one month how can I fit that in half of a suitcase? If only we had a private jet so we can bring all the food from the US  Does anyone know which water would be best? Evian seems like the only one that's foreign but it's a lot of $$$$ I see Unimart has bread like bagels. Would that be okay to eat? My kids love bread. I thought for meals I could do oatmeal packets, noodles with eggs, bread and peanut butter if I can find bread. I don't think they have an oven I could use to make bread. I could make banana pancakes with banana, coconut oil and eggs. Thanks for all the help. This time I will for sure get the typhoid vaccine.
OP here. I didn't wear a Burka, and I learned just a few days before the trip that my dear husband told his family I don't wear pants because pants aren't a good thing for women to wear. That said, the trip was amazing, and I loved his family. Some of the neighbors who didn't speak English would ask to come and view me. It was like we had a museum at his house the last few weeks. Sometimes, the rickshaw/ golf cart type of cars (not sure the name of these cars) would do a double-take when we were standing at the corner to get a ride. I remember before the trip, I kept asking my husband if there would be elephants, and he thought it was hilarious because that's more of an Indian thing, and he's so proud to be Bangladeshi. Anyway, on the first day, we saw an elephant who was on the way to the circus. He said so it didn't "count". Oh yeah, another thing is they don't have warm running water at his parent's home, and he didn't tell me that. My hair looked like a hot mess by the end of the trip. I may embrace wearing a scarf on my head for the last few weeks. We will go to Turkey on the way over, so that should be fun.
