I'm pp...look to China. Military parades. Arresting journalists. Giving govt contracts to those with most clout. Shutting out foreigners from business deals, with little recourse. Jailing businessmen when they irk a party member. Extreme force with protestors. Rampant propaganda.

The masses will be forced to worry about their little black book (i.e. infractions that may be used against them at any time), increased surveillance, harm from goods that aren't regulated, the restriction to travel freely, and on.

I'm as anti-Trump as anyone and agree that Trump can take awfulness to unprecedented levels but what you're saying is hogwash hysteria that only makes us anti-Trumpers seem out of sync with reason. Fortunately, our Federal Government was set up with a system of checks and balances that would never let one person have the power to go to such extremes. Acknowledge that and be thankful.[/quote]

Do you think it's that simple? Look I may be overly pessimistic, but look at what Chavez did in Venezuela. Here's an excerpt from "How Democracies Die" that gives a summary of what happened for 20 years. The authors do say that military coups are not really a thing now, but let's take what Trump says about the military with A LOAD of caution. A pp responded earlier that the "Dems won't let that happen," but they failed to get a Supreme Court justice elected under Obama because of GOP obstruction. So, Trump was able to fill the slot.
