They are in A CITY and we’re talking about “adult sons” not families with small children. They can do the bare minimum and respect the host’s space as they work hard to get the meal ready. OP’s situation has gone off the rails already and I agree she should just provide breakfast but in a similar scenario I would just text everyone the following:

“Looking forward to seeing everyone! I will be ordering dinner for us all Weds night. My kitchen is tiny so I’ll be using it all morning Thursday with no room to make breakfast, but I’ll have some coffee and bagels for breakfast/lunch. Anyone who wants something more substantial can head out to the pizza place down the street and there are also Starbucks and McDonalds within a few blocks. Thanksgiving dinner will be at 4 with appetizers out around 2. See you soon!”[/quote]
