Arent teachers being switched around from grade to grade?
Per Mr. C in June: A K teacher is moving to 3rd so that there will be four sections in each grade (instead of 5 Ks and 3 3rds, as there were in 2011-12). A 4th grade teacher is moving to 3rd to replace a teacher who is going to get her MBA. A 1st grade teacher is moving to 4th (so there will be 4 sections of 1st instead of the 5 they had last year). I believe that's it.
You seem to know a lot about the school. But that is not the whole truth. I know of two other staff members that are not coming back in the fall. The truth will come out once school starts. I would love to have the school be more transparent about these turnovers. I read in the Post that DCPS has the highest teacher turnover in the country.
I don't know any more than any other parent who reads the school website, reads Mr. C's e-mails, and listens to his voicemails. So I'm not claiming to offer the "truth"--just summarizing the information available to all. Mr. C did allude to number of 2nd grades in his voicemail the other night, so maybe that's what you're referring to? Regardless, I'm not sure what he's supposed to do in terms of keeping people looped in on staff departures that happen during the summer. Not receiving constant updates on changes happen between mid-June and late August doesn't strike me as a lack of transparency. On a happy note, I am excited that we're getting class assignments next week--that will be a HUGE improvement over previous years.
