While I sympathize with the stigma and bullying that trans students are subject to, allowing them to us the bathrooms of their preferred gender, rather than the bathrooms of their birth is not good. Their comfort should supercede others comfort. In most schools there are single-use bathrooms (usually reserved for staff). Transgender students should be approved to use single-use bathrooms for their comfort so that they are not at risk in the bathroom of their birth assignment but they should not be allowed in the bathrooms of their preferred gender.
Right. This is the common sense and most fair answer, but trans people and their allies are unbending when it comes to finding a middle ground that makes everyone comfortable and not just trans people.
Because they don’t want a separate space, they must colonize women and girls spaces in order to validate themselves. The reality is that the vast majority of Americans do not want males in women’s spaces and vice versa. Calling these people bigots is not helpful and actually strategically counterproductive when it is most of the US population. This is a losing issue for the Democrats.
