I am in your situation. I honestly don’t know what to do. I: Am atheist and do not trust the evangelicals in particular. Think Jan. 6th was an attempted coup. Think US interests are supported by Israel and have been appalled by the refusal of the progressives to come out strongly against the most basic of war crimes, like burning Jewish toddlers alive. Am strongly pro-choice. Am pro-gun control, but reasonable limits like not allowing people with retraining orders against them to buy guns. Believe human-made climate change is an impending disaster that could end life as we know it, and think a strong environmental policy is critical. Think Democratic support for suppression of speech online under the guise of suppressing “misinformation” is terrifying and Orwellian. Was strongly opposed to the school shutdowns and am angry at the refusal to acknowledge the enormous harm done to kids by those shutdowns. Think we need to manage our border much better. Think a strong middle class is essential for a strong economy and generally support the concept of labor, but also think a lot of unions have lost their way entirely. Think it’s ridiculous, deeply misogynist, and dangerous that women have lost the ability to have their own sex-segregated safe places and men/boys can self-id into women’s prisons and girls sports. Think public schools have lost their way and vouchers may be the way forward at this point. Think progressives like AOC and squad don’t have any sense of morality or ethics. Or common sense. Think the MAGA are essentially a death cult. In general, am scared and worried about the sharp uptick of misogyny across both the right and the left.
You are a democrat. As to the bolded comment, when the misinformation is Russian psyops, we, as a country, should just let it stand? We should provide a platform for "stop the steal" which was all lies and BS?
I don’t feel like a Democrat any more. The party feels unrecognizable to me. As for the question you ask, I don’t think I trust the government to correctly identify what is Russian psyops and what is protected free speech. I don’t want the government clamping down on speech like China does. I don’t mind private enterprises deciding what they want to host online or not, but I do not trust the government to do so.
You do not appear to have any sincere beliefs or priority concerns. You are looking for random issues to pretend to be disillusioned about. It is not possible to be an informed person and have no preference for one party or the other. My guess is that are planning to vote based on whatever prejudices you have but are searching for a more acceptable justification for the decision you have already made.
