The cavalier attitude that people have about living in the most dangerous capitol cities in the Western World, and  one of the most dangerous cities in America, is sad. Tenleytown is a cesspool compared to the nice parts of NYC and Boston - cities that aren’t on a downward trajectory crime wise. Cleveland Park, Tenleytown, and Friendship Heights used to be the nicer parts of DC in the 90s and early 2000s. Why is it weird to you and others that people are disturbed that they’ve backslid? I lived in Cleveland Park in the 90s. It was not utopia. I passed by multiple homeless people on my way to school. All the stores had pan handlers. I witnessed a crack bust from my living room (tons of police cars chased a car and blocked it in and unloaded all the drugs maybe 100 feet from me). Random people would ring our doorbell and beg for money.

I mean it was a nice place to grow up but there was plenty of homelessness, etc.[/quote]
