Taylor Swift fans are mostly young women with high GPAs. No wonder MAGA is scared.
I am 41 year old man, and can't sing a song she sings. she not that famous.
She is probably the most famous celebrity (and maybe person) on the planet over the last year.
I think what he was trying to saying is he hasn’t listened to any new music in the last 15 years, and doesn’t follow any concert news.
Or maybe he's a fan of indie music, or jazz, or classical. I'm a 56 yo male with a voracious appetite for new music, primarily indie rock/jazz/soul, and I wouldn't know a TS song if I didn't have a teenage daughter.
My post was satirical. Some men have a habit of hearing a woman speak, then mansplaining what he thinks she meant to a group of people, possibly taking her ideas as his own.
Hilariously this actually happened to Taylor Swift. Her album 1989 was covered in its entirety by Ryan Adams, and all of the critics gushed about his brilliance and how amazing it was that he could transform her music into something worthy. It just needed his perspective. Because of course it did! Go back and read some articles. It’s a trip.
No, they said he took something great and added something new by changing the tone from upbeat pop to a more melancholy tone. The same was said when Johnny Cash covered NIN's Hurt.
Yeahhhh but… …that was one song covered by an artistic genius. Who the hell is Ryan Adams? A no one who was trying to coattail on a hugely popular album by an insanely popular artist. One song covered is awesome (see also The Rolling Stones’ cover of the Temptations; Ain’t Too Proud to Beg, GNR covering Wings’ Live and Let Die, two songs so ridiculously over the top that you can smell the cheese, and Cake’s cover of Gloria Gaynor’s I Will Survive), a whole album is a weird, desperate flail and is mansplain adjacent in this context. And I hope all the little Swifties of voting age get those moldy old Republicans out of office and into the dustbin of history where they belong.
