This thread makes me laugh. Wow people are uptight! So uptight they have to sit upright to show the world how awesome they are. Look me at me being uncomfortable because I am such a good person!! What kind of weird body shapes do you have that the seats are crushing your faces and touching your laps when they are reclined?
I'm 6'5". In regular coach seating, even when the seat in front of me is fully upright, my knees are pressed against the seatback. Try as I might, my thighbones simply won't get any shorter. Every inch you recline pushes my knees another inch into your seatback. You should be thankful you're so petite. If you're nice to me, I'll help you get your bag down from the overhead.
You need to buy Economy plus or above - end of problems. Why do tall people insist on always mentioning how uncomfortable they are in economy seats? Do something about it and stop bitching.
Trust me, I work very hard to get seats with extra room. If you're willing to pay for a first-class seat for me, I'll be very grateful. And don't you worry, I'm not just sitting around bitching about how uncomfortable I am. If I'm stuck in a tiny coach seat, and someone is making my life more miserable by cranking his seat back into my knees, I'm doing something about it. Sometimes that can be simply a polite request for more room. Other times, however, when that other person takes the attitude of "I'll recline and you will deal," things get a little less polite. No matter whether we di it the easy way, or the hard way, it almost always works itself out in the end.
