preppy, wealthy/country club vibe, sporty, high achieving people who do care about academics but not necessarily in a "life of the mind" kind of way, people who are maybe not overly conservative in the political sense but more so conventional in terms of interests, lifestyle, etc. [/quote]

this. unusually homogenous in thought, culture, activities, background, interests. if your kid was worried that at (insert top 20 school here), they might end up on a dorm floor with kids who they (seemingly) had nothing in common with on that very first day .. then BC is your school. your dorm will be full of kids just like you![/quote]

This was not true for me - but I came from a less wealthy and more diverse back ground. I loved BC.[/quote]
